It seems people will have to wait that extra bit longer, if you already haven’t got one, for a Sony-made headset for the Playstation 3. Unlike Microsoft with the Xbox 360 Premium and Elite editions, the Playstation 3 does not come with a headset for online chat. TheGameReviews.com thought it would be a good idea to ask Sony whether or not they will start introducing their own headset.
During an interview with Kyle Shubel of Sony Online Entertainment, we asked if Sony was developing a first party headset, to which he responded:
“We are typically focusing on just the third party aspects, although a Sony Ericson Headset would work with the PS3. So if you wanted to stay in the family you could.” He carried on to say: “But in effect, as far as Playstation leaning on some of the other third parties for a few of these peripherals is still beneficial from a cost perspective.”
It looks like we will have to wait, but with games such as SOCOM, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2 with online capabilities, maybe its time for Sony to start including headsets in each console to help grow the online community.
