This sort of thing is really inevitable - no matter how hard major companies may try, all it takes is one new employee with the keys to the electronics shelves - and so, just five days before the official release of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, at least two lucky gamers walked away with not only a brand new special-edition 80GB PS3, but a copy of the game. A member of the NeoGAF forums posted Thursday about his conquest of the system, followed yesterday with a Youtube video of another gamer opening the MGS4 bundle on camera.
Konami has responded to the brushfire, saying: "Unfortunately, these things happen. As much as we like [to] see that no one breaks streets dates, no one can monitor every single moment that a title gets packed up for shipment and when it’s on its way to the stores. The store could be at fault as well, for letting someone get a copy before the street date." If you have a large sum of money you’re willing to throw away before June 12th, keep an eye on Ebay and your local Walmart. Honey, where are my keys?!
