More MGS4 Bundles on the Way

While it may be true that Grand Theft Auto 4 didn’t do anything to drive console sales, that certainly isn’t the case for Metal Gear Solid 4. In Japan alone, the release of Snake’s newest adventure drove PS3 sales up some 700% in one week, with similar numbers appearing in America. In fact, Sony’s limited-edition MGS4 PS3 bundle has proved to be quite the hot item, with enthusiasts snatching them up faster than the company can get them out.

Sadly, many who were looking for the bundle have been left wanting, but Sony is riding in to save the day, today announcing that the limited-edition bundle has gotten a little less "limited edition-y" and that more consoles are on the way to America. Says the company:

"While we can’t provide specifics on inventory levels, the Metal Gear Solid 4 Playstation 3 bundle is a limited-edition offering that’s experiencing high demand from Metal Gear and Playstation enthusiasts. We’re pleased with the strong consumer interest in the bundle and are working to ensure that additional shipments are provided to retailers."

Sony is hoping to have the additional shipments on store shelves by early July, so start planning now if you want to get yours. In fact, you should plan on calling your local GameStop every hour, on the hour, starting July 1 asking if they have any bundles in yet. Don’t feel guilty about it: it’s just your way of getting them back for all the times they’ve harassed you about pre-ordering a game you have absolutely no interest in.
