If you’re anything like me, you’ve been playing Super Stardust HD to death, largely because so far, it’s still the only PS3 game to support Trophies. Also, the news that a lot of upcoming titles won’t integrate this new feature may leave a sour taste in the mouths of gamers who risked life, limb, and hard drive to update their PS3 only to find that one of the most touted features saw a gimped launch. Things are looking up, though, as Tynan Wales of BioShock has announced that not only will the game feature Trophies, but he even gave some specific examples to whet your Adam-starved appetites.
Bronze trophies are obviously awarded for the simplest accomplishments, like experimenting with Researching, Modifying Weapons, Hacking, and Crafting. So if you never got into the swing of hacking in the Xbox 360 version of BioShock, now you have an incentive to dig in a little deeper.
Silver awards will go for more challenging tasks, like the "Historian" Trophy, which is awarded for finding every audio diary hidden around the waterlogged world. So, if you’re the type who likes to search every nook and cranny for hidden goodies, this one’s going to be right up your alley.
Rounding out the trophies are obviously the Gold awards, the toughest of all to achieve. One such challenge is the "Brass Balls" Trophy, which requires you to beat the entire game on the Hard difficulty with the Vita-Chambers turned off. For those who like a challenge, this is definitely going to be a doozy. Me, I prefer not wetting myself every time I run across a Big Daddy, secure in the knowledge that even though he’ll likely destroy me, I’ll have the last laugh. I’m insecure like that.
So all who covet shiny things, take heart, there will soon be a retail release that actually has Trophies inside! Dust off the shelves, you’ll want to make plenty of space for these beauties.
