Midway’s Moorpark studio will be shuttered soon, leaving the future of several employees up in the air. The company has stated that it is closing its LA studio so it can bring the development team behind the TNA Impact series into its San Diego offices. Midway claims that this move will allow the development team greater access to the assets of all other Midway studios, as well as the third-party production, licensing, and QA teams based out of the extremely Southern California office. Also, the company has assured the entire TNA team that they are making the move, so no development soldiers will be left behind.
That’s the good news; the bad news is that we don’t know what’s going to happen to everyone else. Aside from the TNA crew, Midway had no comment on the fate of any other employees from the LA office, simply stating that "the majority" of the staff would be relocated to San Diego. Of course, "majority" can mean 51%, in which case there may be a whole lot of new faces in the unemployment line soon. We’ll keep an eye on the story as it develops and provide you with any details we happen to come across.
