Those wondering about the seemingly eternal delay of Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 1 on PSN can take heart, as it seems the long wait is almost over. In a post on the official Playstation blog, Joel DeYoung, the game’s producer, explains that the game has been a long time coming due to problems with the source code, requiring lots of rewrites in order to get the game running just right on the PS3. Things are shaping up though, and DeYoung is promising that the game is just about done, and will definitely be ready by the end of the year.
In addition to a status update, DeYoung talks about the fact that future releases in the series will come much sooner to the initial release date, as well as touting what features the PS3 version has to offer. These newfound goodies include Trophy support, score rankings, and beautiful 1080p output. The game is on its way to Sony for final approval, and the stars should be aligned for a winter release.
If you’re a PS3 owner who hasn’t played this game on either the Xbox 360 or PC/Mac yet, I would highly recommend it. Fans of the comic strip will be rolling with laughter as the story is utterly hilarious, and the whole presentation is just gorgeous. It costs a little more than the average downloadable game, but it’s definitely worth every penny.
