WipEout HD Priced, Dated
Posted by Brandon Hess, 117 days ago Sep 15, 2008 18:21

Daimion Pinnock from Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that WipEout HD will be released on the PlayStation Network on Sept. 25. The title will be available only on the PSN and will cost $19.99.

WipEout HD missed its July 2008 release window due to reports that the game failed epilepsy tests and had the potential of causing seizures in epileptic players. The game has since been re-engineered to fix this problem.

When released, WipEout HD will include Trophy support. No further details have been given, but Pinnock did promise more info in a future post on the PlayStation.Blog.

Sony Liverpool has boasted the game’s graphics, which display at full 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, and WipEout HD’s support for Dolby 5.1 Surround audio. Many of the franchise’s best-loved maps are included in the new release with new graphics; familiar pieces from earlier WipEout soundtracks have also made the change. On- and offline multiplayer is supported, a first for the franchise on consoles.

Considering what’s offered, a $20 pricetag sounds very reasonable. Eurogamer just posted a rather glowing review of the game, praising the game’s graphical prowess, but since I still play on an SDTV, I might just wait a bit before pulling out my credit card. Anyone else itching to play this one?
