Are you planning on downloading Burnout Paradise from the PlayStation Network today to see what all the fuss is about? Or do you happen to be someone who owns the game already and need a reason to get back to racing? There’s good news for all, as Criterion has announced that the patch that brings Trophy support to Paradise City is live, so as of today you can start bashing and crashing with gold in mind.

Things aren’t all good, however, as we have also learned that the Trophies will not be retroactive, despite Criterion’s original claims otherwise. The developers thought they could apply the awards to profiles already saved, but have since found that to be impossible, meaning that if you want the Trophies, you’re going to have to start all over again on a new save slot. Bummer.

On the upside, if you still haven’t yet started playing Burnout Paradise, this is the perfect excuse to jump in. The sheer depth of content and nearly limitless free updates from Criterion make this a game with serious legs, and you’ll likely find your time in Paradise City well spent. So get going, there’s a whole world out there just waiting for you to crash into it.
