This could truly be a banner day for gaming: the day in which video games made a wider contribution to society in general and folks the world over stop and say, "Thank you video games, for doing such monumental good." The reason for this worldwide admiration? Making the Ghostbusters video game has inspired Bill Murray to get the ball rolling on Ghostbusters 3.
Murray spilled the beans to Ain’t It Cool news, and his words should get everyone very excited:
"[Murray] also went on to say that his enthusiasm for Ghostbusters was heightened after recording the voice of Peter Venkman for the video game over the summer. In fact, he said he found himself walking down the street singing the Ghostbusters theme song and then thought people walking around him were going to start yelling at him to ‘get over yourself, Bill,’ so he stopped… But the enthusiasm was there."
It’s interesting to note that a script for Ghostbusters 3 is already in the works (being penned by some writers from The Office), and that the rest of the cast is very interested in a reunion. Murray has long been a holdout due to some nasty incidents that happened on the set of Ghostbusters 2, but it seems as though he may be ready to put the past behind him and come back for one more round of ectoplasm and spookery.
So when you start hearing the reports on the new Ghostbusters movie sit up tall video game nation, and puff out your chest a bit. After all, it was us, and only us that made this new film a possibility, and don’t you ever forget it.
