Metal Gear Online Preps for Second Expansion
Posted by Brad Hilderbrand, 57 days ago Oct 9, 2008 13:46

Konami has released the first details of the next Metal Gear Online expansion, entitled Meme Expansion. This new edition will feature "a vast amount of new content" including maps, characters and new lobbies and settings.

First up are the maps, which feature Silo Sunset from Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Forest Firefight from Metal Gear Solid 3 and original stage, called Winter Warehouse. Here’s the blurb from the press release about each new stage:

  • Silo Sunset - One of the most popular stages in the handheld Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops has been renewed for the world of Metal Gear Online.
  • Forest Firefight - Taken from Metal Gear Solid 3, this dense jungle gives players a new tense atmosphere with plenty of camouflage options.
  • Winter Warehouse - An original stage created for Metal Gear Online, players will have to search for suitable cover, in and around, this dilapidated factory blanketed in snow.

But of course new maps are no fun without new characters to play on them, so Konami is set to release Mai Ling and Liquid Ocelot as playable characters. There will also be new special skills and perks to go along with these new faces, but no details are yet available.

Finally, new gameplay options such as tournament lobbies and special rules and settings are being added to further diversify gameplay. Once again, no specifics have yet been revealed.

The Meme Expansion is set to go live later this year, so anyone who’s getting tired of the current Metal Gear Online experience just sit tight, a hefty refresh is on the way.
