A rumor has recently surfaced that the 80GB SKU of the PS3 will be discontinued, and that its replacement will be a version with a 120-169 GB hard drive, as well as the new Dual Shock 3 controller. Despite this change, it has been said that Sony will still be sticking with a two model approach, and that the 40GB system will probably stay as is. Keep in mind that this is pure speculation; however the author at Opposable Thumbs, Ars Technica’s videogame journal, is claiming that their source is very reliable. Also, the article reports that the prices of the two versions will not change. We’ll have more on this rumor as it either develops, or deflates.
