Netflix Goes Blu-Ray Exclusive
Posted by Relin, 338 days ago Feb 11, 2008 16:40

Toshiba had a good run. Its hi-def disc format came out earlier and cheaper than competitor Blu-ray, but consistently lower sales paired with Blu-ray’s overwhelming corporate support have made the decision easy for Netflix. According to a report by Reuters, Netflix has seen clear indicators that the industry is falling in line behind the format developed by Sony et al and will remove all HD-DVDs from its stock by the end of the year.

Other major players, including Hollywood studio Universal, have been rumo
red as dropping HD-DVD support as well. Perhaps it really is time to throw in the towel and begin developing hardware for Blu-ray, Toshiba.
