Portal 2 not Coming in 2008
Posted by Nick Papas, 133 days ago Apr 27, 2008 20:03

Gamers fearing another substandard sequel to a promising debut game have one less reason to worry this year. Valve’s Doug Lombardi said in a statement yesterday that the sequel to Portal will not be ready in 2008.
"In typical Valve tradition, it won’t be Portal with different colors," said Lombardi.
"I think that when you hit something like that, you have two choices: you can quickly replicate it and stick it out there, or you can try and say, ’Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary.’”
Portal was released as part of the Orange Box package across several platforms, and has seen some degree of cult success, including many enthusiasts dressing as the game’s main focus, a companion cube.
