After the critical and commercial success of EA’s Fight Night Round 3 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, it was only a matter of time before EA announced the new title in the boxing series. Named, unsurprisingly, Fight Night Round 4, boxing fans will be able to get there mitts on this game sometime in 2009 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
What is surprising is that Mike Tyson will be making an appearance in the game as a playable character alongside the likes of boxing legend Mohammed Ali. This will be Mike Tyson’s first appearance in a videogame for some time, several years to be exact. His last appearance was in the likes of Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing for PS2 and Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out on NES.
Once developed by the now closed EA Chicago Studio, development has now been handed over to EA Canada, who promises this version will be the most realistic yet thanks to a new physics-based animation system that "allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting."
